CRU Lake Mac Redevelopment - STAGE 2
Reach an extra 7,100 kids with the gospel of Jesus Christ each year

Stage 2 of the Lake Mac redevelopment is a vital step forward - increasing accommodation capacity to enable an additional 7,100 young people to encounter Christ each year.
This next stage of redevelopment will replace the tired A-frame cabins with a 104-bed lodge, and a large new meeting room - allowing up to 3 large groups to utilise the site simultaneously.
Thanks to the surplus generated from Stage 1, CRU is able to cover two-thirds of the $13.7m Stage 2 expansion cost, but is in need of donor support to cover the remaining $4.2 million. Every gift is tax-deductible and can be given over up to 4 years.

“Lake Mac is where my journey with Jesus began. I came on camp to learn how to sail… but have left with something much better… a faith in God and a desire to follow Him every day of my life.” - Justin, CRU Camper
To give more kids the opportunity to experience a Christian camp, the CRU Board developed an ambitious masterplan to expand the Lake Mac campsite, which had been generously gifted to CRU by Dr Leslie Parr in 1946. Until then, the site had been limited by its capacity to host just one group at a time, with only 120 beds—fewer than the size of an average school year group.
A bold multi-stage redevelopment plan was created with the aim of reaching an extra 20,000 young people with the gospel of Jesus each year for the next 50 years - 1 million kids over the lifespan of the project.
Stage 1 was completed in 2020, adding 260 new beds and various activities to the site. As a result, last year an extra 12,900 young people attended camp at Lake Mac, heard the gospel, and participated in bible discussion groups. And 574 indicated a commitment to Christ!
With Stage 1 now complete, the next stage of the journey is before us. While COVID and rising construction costs caused delays, we now have a powerful opportunity to move forward. Stage 2 of the Lake Mac redevelopment will expand bed capacity, making it possible to reach an additional 7,100 young people each year with the hope of Christ.
To fully unlock the Kingdom potential of Lake Mac, Stage 2 is crucial.
The new accommodation has been a success, but the outdated and underused A-frames need to be replaced with facilities that better serve today's needs. Stage 2 of the redevelopment will do just that—adding a 104-person lodge and a large Jetty View meeting room, increasing capacity to over 370 beds.
This upgrade will allow the site to host up to three groups or large school camps at once, creating space for an additional 7,100 young people each year to hear the gospel and experience Christian community.
A-frames no longer fit for purpose
Thanks to surpluses from Stage 1, CRU can cover two-thirds of the $13.7m Stage 2 cost through borrowings.
However, due to COVID delays and rising construction and finance costs, we are appealing to supporters to help us cover the shortfall of $4.2m.
Please act now by giving generously to help an extra 7,100 kids each year encounter Christ at Lake Mac.
All donations are tax-deductible and can be spread over up to four years.
“Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.”
– Ephesians 5:15-16a
